This pair of classical Marapachi dolls (translates to 'dolls made from wood') are those of the Indian gods Venkateshwara and Padmavathi, incarnations of Lord Vishnu, the savior and his consort Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. These sculptures with intricate art work in wood are wonderful to decorate your show case, and a classical ethnic gift to give!
These dolls are available in two heights (please pick the height you prefer), 6 inches wide, and 3.5 inches thick. Since these dolls are hand made, the dimensions and weight are approximate. This represents the height of the taller doll in the pair.
Marapachi dolls are deep rooted in South Indian culture for generations. They are made as male female pairs and have been considered to be auspicious gifts for the bride and groom at weddings to this day. These dolls have their origins in the pilgrim town of Tirupathi located in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Marapachi dolls representing Lord Venkateshwara, and Goddess Padmavathi were made there. Contemporary dolls are however made to represent people from different cultures.
